VERIZON TO DOUBLE ITS 5G COVERAGE IN 2021
Ever since the launch of its next-gen network last year in October, Verizon is looking to take things on a bigger scale. In the year 2021, the company has some big plans for 5G penetration and expansion. Verizon will look to expand its ultra-fast mmWave coverage. Since 5G has been restricted to select areas in select cities, the company has a huge task in its hand. As of now, the 5G network depends a lot on the user’s proximity to a 5G site because of the inherent technology that powers It. The current version of the network is referred to as 5G Ultra-Wideband (5G UW), Although it does give users high speeds the coverage is poor. In 2021, Verizon’s mission is to expand the network coverage. The company has decided to add more than 14,000 new “sites” to their 5G network which will almost double their current network.
